Colored vinyl records are COOL...and that matters!
In this video, I discuss the topic of colored vinyl records. Are they cool to own and collect, or just an overdone gimmick? Do you purchase colored vinyl, or just stick to black vinyl?
Well, let's discuss it all in this video.

Great video. The turntable seems okay, but too many drawbacks for me, as you noted. I think my TEAC TN-5BB turntable is a better value at the same price. It came with an Ortofon 2M Red which is decent but I replaced it with an Audio-Technica moving coil. It has an "s" shaped tonearm with removable headshell which I prefer, and the anti-skate and VTA are easy to access, and it includes a dust cover, lol. I actually prefer it over my Technics SL-1200GR2 since it has auto stop/lift. It's a shame more people don't know about the TEAC.

Colors! Love colored vinyl. Probably about a quarter to half my collection are colored. I deliberately bought a black turntable and Kallax so that when I put on colored vinyl, it really pops and stands out visually. Gives the experience an extra layer of awesome. I usually avoid picture discs because their quality usually is lower than colored vinyl, like you said here. Love your channel! Have an amazing day!

I went Red this weekend, and so far, so good. I've only had one album where I think I might have IGD, but so far I'm very satisfied with it. I will most likely be getting a Blue stylus in the next few weeks to switch off with the Red one. Obviously it's not in the same league as the VM95 with either the ML or SH styli on them, but it's not that far off. I can only imagine how much better it'll sound when it's broken in.

Respect. The 2M Blue came with my turntable. I bought the 2M Black partially to be ready when a replacement is needed as well as to compare sound quality. By the time I swap them out and balance everything I can’t compare the difference as my brain can’t remember exactly how the other sounded! Great video as always and one unsolicited critique: your audio isn’t ideal. I’m assuming you pull the audio direct from the phone/camera as it sounds distant and echoing. I’ve bought the DGI Mic 2 and they are pretty awesome. (Although an investment). Feel free to toss my opinion…no offense!

I own 20 thousand vinyl and 3thousand 7inchers. I've been collecting forever ( even during the vinyl-hating 90s lol). I'm out of room, and don't care to expand anymore. Now, every new vinyl, means one has to go. In the 90s, most vinyl was free or a dollar. I would get Bauhaus, Smiths, Miles Davis 6eye all a buck apiece, but tons of garbage too. I'm slowly getting rid of musicals and Streisand, that I got for free. I don't know what to do after that. They are also still releasing those 90s/ early 2000s albums, that were never available on vinyl ( dave matthews some devil, comes out shortly for example). I'm gonna be out of ideas to justify my obsession lol

You could get rid of that Tom Jones, Platters, and Carpenters but they ain't worth much. You need to keep 95% or else you risk losing out on memories. If you remember it fondly, don't get rid of it. If you hate it on first play and never then really appeals, sure. Get rid of it as in the case of avant-garde or free jazz many will appreciate it and those tend to be limited.

I have been giving the records I just don't seem to resonate with or heard too many times to a 20 year old at work who loves Led Zeppelin and all the other classics. Gave him Doors Greatest Hits, Led Zeppelin Physical Grafitti and Song Remains the Same (actually old presses gifted to me many years ago in beautiful condition); I still have 2, 3 and Led Zeppelin 4. Those are more memorable for me, gave him Jimi He drives Smash Hits (first got a copy in the late 70s when my mom or grandma bought it for me. I now have Are You Experienced which I never owned growing up. Gifted him Van Halen 1984, not really ever a fan of that one. Only bought it because my late online buddy Noel Monks (their manager at the times) name was on it. And gave him Ramones Rocket to Russia because everyone should know the Ramones. Gave my older friend at work STP Core on that beautiful spatter disc, Tom Petty Greatest Hits, ACDC Back In Black and Weezer's first album, which I just couldn't get into. Oh yeah also gave the young dude Pink Floyd Animals (another old press Gifted to me in minty condition and Black Sabbath. I can't remember the title but it's got the Sweet Leaf song on it and the kid loves it. He actually quit recently but he sent me a recording of him playing his guitar and he sounds like Hendrix and Jimmy Page's lovechild. He is a natural. Already taken it to the stage at the local rock club. So my point? You never know who your giving records you just don't jam anymore, too. And you can always buy another copy later if you miss any of them. If nothing else, it's a nice gesture and it's something I find, young folks especially, will remember my old nearly 50 yo ass by. I use to make mix cds for my friends 8 year old son in the late 90s and early 2000s. He still talks about all the old punk jams I use to burn into them.
